Fishing in the Jura
Fishing in the Jura, accompanied by an instructor or in solo, beginner or expert, for grown-ups or youngsters, on a lake or a river, with a fly, a lure or natural baits... it’s up to you. Walking along the banks of the rivers of the Jura is like entering a magical world of exceptionally clear water. 2,100 kilometres of rivers, 2,600 hectares of mountain lakes full of whitefish, the Jura is a land of plenty for the fisherman.
The different types of licence
The “Associations Agréées pour la Pêche et la Protection du Milieu Aquatique” (AAPPMA) – authorised fishing associations of the Jura issue licences with limited time periods and at reduced prices so that you can easily try out the joys of fishing in the Jura during your holidays.
• Daily licence including tax: Including the fish farm tax, fishing without restriction for one day. Issued from 1st May.
• Holiday licence : allows fishing for 15 consecutive days, during the period from 1st June to 30th September.
• Youth licence : allows fishing without restriction for youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18.
• Discovery licence : authorises children under the age of 12 to practice all forms of fishing.
The different fish that can be caught are: lamprey, trout, char, brook trout, grayling, white fish, pike, zander.
Take care to comply with minimum catch sizes, catch number limits and open seasons. For boat fishing in the Jura, you will require a catch log book and a boat fishing authorisation issued for no charge by the Jura fishing federation.
