Walking
There are many walking tours that can be done along the footpaths of the Jura, combining nature with an exploration of the heritage, that are accessible to all. There are 46 walks and hikes to be done as a family or with friends from 1 to 5 hour’s walk. It’s possible to walk all the way around several lakes :
• Tour of the 4 lakes (Ilay, Narlay, Grand and Petit Maclu)
• Tour of lake Chalain
• Tour of lake Bonlieu
• Tour of lake Vouglans.
A footpath around the Herisson falls allows you to explore 7 waterfalls. Many discovery paths will enable you to admire the heritage and the plant life of this area. Hiking in the Jura can be done in any season. The spring, ideal time to enjoy the plant life, water is abundant. The summer, the long days allow time for long hikes. The autumn, the woods are sumptuous, the mushrooms and the migratory birds are there. The winter, the frozen lakes provide impressive scenery.
For an enjoyable hike, get yourself some good equipment and adopt an attitude worthy of a real walker. As you can understand, surprising plant life, a bewildering landscape of hills and maybe the appearance of a few chamois are the ingredients that await you thanks to the walking opportunities in the Jura.
